Google News Search by Location

October 30th, 2008

Google continues to maintain its innovation in News Search, one of the most popular activity of netizens. Google has added a new functionality of searching news by location.

For instance, if you are searching on what’s the buzz about Shilpa Shetty in London, you can query in Google news as Shilpa Shetty location:London to fetch only results relevant to that location. You will get soem results. You can test the same by changing the location to location:Redmond and there will be no matching documents in the search results page.

You can just Google about any Hot News Topic like the US Elections and get Local Perspective by using the Location: operator. Google for sure is changing the way we produce and consume media.
