July 27th, 2009

Even before the introduction of 3G services in India, Mobile Savvy Indians have overtaken Chinese in using the GPRS based Internet services on their smart phones. This comes as a surprise to us that China which began its Wireless Communication revolution a decade ahead of India and has also introduced 3G and still losing the battle to India.

According to Opera, Russia and Indoensia lead India in the usage of Opera browser. [The report is based only on the suage of Opera browser, but still we didn’t expect India to beat China as they are assumed to be far ahead in the Wireless race in Asia]Indians had an average page view of 375 / month and the most sought after sites by Indians from their mobile handsets are,

  • Google
  • Orkut
  • Gmail
  • Yahoo
  • Wikipedia
  • Facebook
  • YouTube

Clearly Indians are in love with Google properties. The surprise Winner in the past quarter is Facebook which has gained traction at the cost of other social networks in India.
