Windows 8 NoteBooks Taking MarketShare from ChromeBook

Windows 8 NoteBooksChromebook has been a key driver of improved consumer demand in the US and Europe. The new low-end Windows notebook PC models are entering the market and, as a result, the sub-USD300 models now account for 70% of the top-10 best-seller list on Amazon’s US website, versus 60% in July. Brand concentration is accelerating: Acer, Asustek, HP and Lenovo dominate the top-10 sellers.

Chromebook has been a key driver of improved consumer demand in the US and Europe PC markets in 1H14. Interestingly, the new low-end Windows notebook PC models are starting to gain ground with accelerated growth momentum.

Aggressive PC Sales PricingRecent industry developments point to growing pricing competition risks within PC OEMs. Dell has shifted its PC strategy from profit protection to market share gains. Dell’s strategic move to PC volume growth and HP’s weaker PC profitability in the recent quarter lead us to conclude that US OEMs will adopt aggressive pricing to protect PC market share. Dell’s management suggests that it might adopt a more aggressive pricing strategy to increase shares in key accounts that should provide solid cash flow and profitability for Dell over the long term. Windows Blue for TabletsMicrosoft’s Windows Blue suggests an accelerated pace of innovation, targeting enterprises looking to adopt a mobile strategy. Microsoft is expected to release an update codenamed “Blue” for its Windows 8 platform later this year.

Huawei, ZTE China SmartPhones Moving toward Premium & US market – CES 2013

Huawei ZTE Luxury SmartPhones to USAAt the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, we see key trend of Chinese SmartPhone Manufacturers Moving towards Premium Segment and the USA. Huawei and ZTE launched new flagship models with advanced features including 5-inch full HD (1080p) display and 13MP camera modules in order to enter the mid-range smartphone (above USD300) market globally.
